Hard Candy: It's the Remix
Today I did a GRWM (Get Ready With Me) using only Hard Candy makeup. First off, I thought I’d mention Hard Candy is 100% cruelty-free so you can test it out without worrying about animal testing.
Also, can we talk about Hard Candy founder, Dineh Mohajer, for a sec? Did you know she started Hard Candy in her dorm room, kind of on accident? Now it’s going more than 20 years strong. She’s also created another one of my favorites, Smith & Cult. Talk about a true inspiration. Enough gushing, onto the makeup, let’s go!

Sheer Envy Hydrating Primer — $7
Let’s start with the primer. It’s a light green color with no scent, perfect for my more sensitive ones. I was pleasantly surprised with how thick it was. It’s formulated with hyaluronic acid and agave to help keep your skin plump and reduce the appearance of fine lines while gripping your makeup for hours. I’d say this is pretty comparable to the other drugstore primers.
Glamoflauge Full Coverage Foundation — $6
I wasn’t impressed with their range of colors but I think I managed to get one close enough. This is definitely more of a medium coverage for me than full coverage, but still pleasantly surprised with the quality. This formula is oil-free and supposed to be long-lasting.
Bake Brighten + Set Powder — $6
This powder felt high-end, very satin-like, and it really brightened where I needed it. I let it bake for a few minutes and it gave the illusion of brighter, more radiant skin under my eyes while working to help prevent creasing. Overall, a decent baking powder and a steal!
Gel Palette - $6
I primed my eyelids first with some P.Louise Eyeshadow Primer, I didn’t even use a base color (yes, I know I’m supposed to, but I went for it anyway!) and let me tell you, you cannot be mad at this. It went on so smooth, not a lot of fallout, and there is crazy amount of pigment for a glitter shadow. While the brushes are meh, the gel palettes are a must-have for the price.
Liquid Liner - $6
Absolute showstopper! If you take nothing else away from this post, make sure you pick up one of these on your next Walmart trip or on their website. This liquid liner was just as good as any high end version. I used it to go in above my purple gel glitter shadow and it was gorgeous.
Felt Tip 12 Hour Smudge Proof Liquid Eyeliner - $5
The tip was a little too flimsy for me. The liner worked just fine, but it wasn’t anything to write home about. If you prefer a softer tip, more paintbrush like, then you may want to give this a try before writing it off. The liner itself was smudge-proof and lasted all day but I may go back and try the black version of the liquid liner from above.
Dare to Extend Lash Extension Mascara — $7
I’m not going to lie, this is a tough review for me to make because I have pitiful lashes. I mean, they’re not very long, they don’t curl, and I always wear falsies. However, this did an average job for me but for those of you with lashes, it may be worth getting for the price.
Final Thoughts:
Is Hard Candy still the drug store makeup we bought as preteens? Yes and no. If you’re like me and need full coverage foundation and concealer to hide all your flaws and sins, then this may not be your go-to. However, for the eyeshadow palettes and liquid liners it’s a 100% yes! I think all their products can hold their own against the other drug store giants, and for the price, I might keep a full line as a backup or for my lighter days. Have you given it a try?
